Gaining a sense of Snowdonia’s industrial past as we went our way out of Bethesda and along Ogwen valley starting the journey. Like the slate we are going to end at the dockside at Port Penrhyn

After a lovely overnight stay Plas Curig 5 Star Hostel-Snowdonia Day 2 of our Llwybr Llechi Eryri - Snowdonia Slate Trail adventure saw us dance through bogs, questing through bilberry festooned pine forests, exploring the Snowdonia rainforest and today we were graced with some mountain views as well. A tough but enjoyable 40km adding to the 42km yesterday leaving...too many km tomorrow!

This week, Kate and Ross have been out walking on the Llwybr Llechi Eryri - Snowdonia Slate Trail - 85 miles through so many varied environments and villages of North Snowdonia - rich in natural and social history, beauty and drama...and many different gates, stiles and breeds of sheep! A gem of a walk that will comfortably fill a week of adventure for sure. More photos from the route to follow...

We certainly enjoyed collecting our 'Pasbort/Passport' stamps at participating cafes and venues as we passed through villages. We still have some to collect when we revisit with Libby - and the team at Antur WaunfawrCafe had just popped out when we called...doh!

Big thanks to Moel Siabod Cafe - SnowdoniaTŷ Hyll / The Ugly HouseConwy Falls Forest ParkSiop Antur StiniogAmgueddfa Llechi Cymru - National Slate Museum and Lodge Dinorwig for our stamps - and for some we were their first Snowdonia Slate Trail walkers...

We totted up our local spend and (as we purposefully didn't try to 'budget' and treated ourselves to a 'holiday'), we ended up parting with over £300 put into the local economy, including transport and accommodation. We could have travelled home each night and prepared all our own food...but we didn't...on purpose. We could have camped, but we didn't (thankfully - it was wet ALL DAY on Tuesday!)...and we were very lucky to be gifted a night's stay in Beddgelert from family, so that was a luxury treat. So, extra food, plasters(!) and refreshments were bought locally and sustainably too. We did ask for water refills and were granted them and could even re-charge our phones at handy points...awesome Snowdonia...
